Vance County NC Homeowner Uses AR-15 For Self Defense During Home Invasion

Score one for the good guys:
Up in Vance County, Jonathan Haith was sound asleep in his home on Thomas Lane, when he heard someone knocking on his door at 9:45 a.m. , Haith ignored it and went back to sleep.
After about 15 minutes, there was a loud thud noise as 23 year old Gregory Johnson kicked in the door and entered the residence.

suspect Gregory Johnson

Haith retrieved his semi-automatic AR-15 rifle, and crept into his hallway, where Johnson was standing with a 9mm handgun.
Johnson fired at Haith, who returned fire, striking Johnson in the stomach and shoulder.
Haith was not hit by Johnson's initial shot.
Johnson ran from the residence and later collapsed in the parking lot of a daycare down the street.
Johnson apparently had an accomplice who sped out of Haith's yard in a getaway car, clearly not wanting any of what his fellow scumbag had just been a partaker of, and retrieving Johnson and taking him to the local hospital.
Nothing was taken from the home, and no charges have been filed against Haith.
A clear cut case of self defense.
While many of us might grab a shotgun or a pistol when and if we hear someone in our home, that doesn't mean we should dismiss the AR-15  as a candidate for bump-in-the-night duty.
